TYSONS TUNNEL IS THE BIGGEST ISSUE IN THE UPCOMING FAIRFAX COUNTY BOARD CHAIRMAN’S RACE; SUPPORTERS READY TO VOTE
Candidates will be Urged to Deliver a Tunnel & Competitive Bidding
During Monday Press Conference
TYSONS CORNER, VA, January 23, 2009 — Leaders of various civic, community and activist groups — representing more than 300,000 voters — Monday will implore the candidates for the chairmanship of the Fairfax County Board of Directors to deliver a tunnel and competitive bidding for phase one of the multi-billion-dollar Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project through Tysons Corner.
At a press conference Monday at Habatat Gallery in Tysons Corner these community leaders will make it known that their organizations’ members believe that a Tysons tunnel is the biggest issues in the Feb. 3 election for county board chairman.
“Fairfax County citizens are ready to head to the polls Feb. 3 to vote for a candidate who publicly supports and will work to deliver a tunnel for Metro rail under Tysons as well as competitive bidding,” explains Scott A. Monett, president of Tysons Tunnel, who will speak at Monday’s event. “Tysons Tunnel supporters will vote for the candidate who will aggressively act to secure a tunnel for Tysons Corner and Fairfax County voters. Public opposition to our practical request does not exist, yet local leaders have been silent. It is time for these candidates to be accountable.”
